Today Search Engine Optimisation is offered by many companies. Mainly by web design companies. Webdesigners see it as a profitable extension to their existing business and often the client asks both services : and webdesign, and website optimisation. Half of the webdesigners don't even know where to start when they need to do optimisation. We don't have to explain you that many of the webdesigners out there don't have solid experience with SEO. If you are wondering : A search engine is something completely different than a designing a website. Only few businesses have made SEO their core-business.

Of course you'd have to look at their position, but it's worth looking at the keyphrase they rank good for and also the number of results published by Google for that keyphrase. Everybody can rank good for "Cheap, extraordinary and ultimate webdesign in Asia", for the simple reason that there is no competition for this keyphrase. It would probably be much harder to rank good for a keyphrase like "webdesign Asia".

What kind of guarantee is offered by your SEO ? Or is he just gonna try to get you listed in a "high position" for "some keyphrases". Be clear on what position should be achieved for which keyphrases. Then later you can track and measure if your website ranks for your keyphrases.
