Online Marketing Strategies


1. Philosophy

The more visitors, the more sales

You might have the best website imaginable, but without visitors there will be no sales. We can't emphasize the importance of traffic enough. Online marketing, even marketing in general, is often time-consuming and ⁄ or can be quite expensive. Therefore it's important you apply a good marketing-strategy in the first place : you should know what you want to sell, to whom you want to sell it to and most important : how you sell it. A well-planned marketing-strategy will ensure a good ROI.



2. Methodology

The internet is big, very big and all sorts of customers populate the internet. First thing to do is to find out the characteristics of your potential customers : their age, their marital status, where they live, how can you reach your customers, etc. Finally, you will know who your target audience is.

Once you know more about your potential customers, you will try to bring those people in touch with your business and services. Important is to have a sales-strategy implemented, so that it will be easy to convert those potential customers into actual sales.

3. Online Marketing Strategies


A. Website Optimization You might have heard about SEO or Search Engine Optimization. Search Engines, such as Google and Yahoo, are frequently used by internet-users. Those search engines help internet-users to find the websites they are looking for. When an internet-user performs a search on one of those search engines, he will receive an overview of different websites. When you look closer at a search engine listing, you will notice that some websites are advertising on these listings (see Paid Advertisements). Still, the main focus of internet-users will be on the natural, organic listed websites. It's really not a fairytale, and it is in fact possible to manipulate those natural listings, only if the right techniques are used. We refer to those techniques as SEO or Search Engine Optimization.

B. Paid AdvertisementsWe explained earlier that it is important to get visitors from the search engines. It is possible to advertise on the listings of the search engines ; we usually advise our customers to do this as a temporary solution (while we are working on Website Optimization).

Each search engine offers a different kind of advertisement-solution. The most known advertisement-solution would be PPC (pay per click) from google. For this kind of advertisement-campaign you will pay the search engine approximately 1 USD every time an internet-user clicks one of your advertisements. The good part is that you can define your own budget ; so if you only want to spend 10 USD per day, that would be no problem at all.

C. Email-campaigns & NewslettersDepending on how well the message looks like and depending on how up-to-date your mailinglist is, an emailcampaign or newsletter might be a good way to promote your products and ⁄ or services. Especially if you have an offer or a hot deal, that might attract customers, email-campaigns are the right tool.
